Consent – How do you get my consent?

When you provide us with personal information to complete a *transaction, place an order, arrange for a delivery or return a purchase, we imply that you consent to our collecting it and using it for that specific reason only.
*N.B. Our website uses secure external payment portals (Payfast, Paypal) which means that we do not have access to your credit card, nor your banking details.

If we ask for your personal information for a secondary reason; like marketing, we will either ask you directly for your expressed consent, or provide you with an opportunity to say no.

Plantup-za is very sensitive regarding collection of data of its users.
Users need only send an email requesting personal data removal from our databases. Thereafter, we will confirm user’s identity, and data will be deleted per request.

How we protect your data
Online Shop – SECURITY

To protect your personal information, we take reasonable precautions and follow industry best practices to make sure it is not inappropriately lost, misused, accessed, disclosed, altered or destroyed.

If you provide your credit card information, the information is not seen by Plantup-za but received through PAYFAST’s payment port which is encrypted using secure socket layer technology (SSL) and stored with a AES-256 encryption. Although no method of transmission over the Internet or electronic storage is 100% secure, they follow all PCI-DSS requirements and implement additional generally accepted industry standards.

What personal data we collect and why we collect it

Data Collected to Manage Your membership and subscriptions: At checkout, we will collect your name, email address, billing address and phone number, username, and password. This information is used to setup your account for our site. If you are redirected to an offsite payment gateway to complete your payment,

Online shopping: When you purchase something from our store, as part of the buying and selling process, we collect the personal information you give us such as your name, address, telephone number and email address.

When you browse our store, we also automatically receive your computer’s internet protocol (IP) address in order to provide us with information that helps us learn about your browser and operating system.

Social Media shares and login: We collect your public profile data only from your consent that you grant before initiating Social Login, from the social network used to login at our website. This data includes your first name, last name, email address, link to your social media profile, unique identifier, link to social profile avatar. This data is used to create your user profile at our website. You can revoke this consent at any time by sending us an email.

Email marketing: With your permission, we may send you emails about our store, new products and other updates.

Website Comments

When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

Media

If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.

How long we retain your data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

Our store is hosted by WooCommerce. They provide us with the online e-commerce platform that allows us to sell our products and services to you.
